Mac Pro DIY (Early 2009 Nelhalem Quad or 8-core)
The Mac Pro was introduced in 2006, and has since gained a reputation as one of the most stylish “workhorse” options out there. It is a favorite among graphic designers, video editors, and recording studios. However, they are also fairly expensive compared to their PC counterparts, although this is arguably offset by consistent performance, style, and the benefits afforded by Mac OS X.
The spark that ignited this project was my initial research into used Mac Pro’s. I need many of the benefits of the Mac Pro, although the new versions are quite pricey. Many of the benchmark results showed that the 2009 versions perform nearly as well as the 2010 versions, and they are available much cheaper on the used market relative to the price of a new 2010.
